Garden Rescue returned to our screens for the third series on 28 May 2018 on BBC1.
Charlie Dimmock returns along side The Rich Brothers Harry & David Rich who have been in it since it started in 2016.
Series 3 ran for 30 Episodes and followed the usual format of the Garden Designers competing against each other to have the winning design and get to build the garden for the allocated budget.
This series we saw some great designs but also there seemed to be more strange design ideas from Charlie and the Rich Brothers.
Episode 15 from Lymington saw the Designers take on the challenge of a large wraparound front garden where no one can find the front door and added some very unusual decorative additions
Harry and David won and came up with a plan for seating areas and more distinct paths but then they made some wire people?
That was not the strangest part of the garden, that was Charlie's doing, using a lace table cloth and some cement!
She soaked the table cloth in the cement and hung it over a table to dry and displayed it by the front door?
The home owner loved the quirky garden as it met her brief perfectly and thats all that matters.
Episode 5 saw them tackling a garden with an old air raid shelter in it that they preserved but also added a unique fence / garden separator to match the corrugated shelter.
Who cannot forget the boat in the front garden in Hoveringham, Episode 26 they turned into a table / seating area for the family to sit at in the front garden and watch the world go by!
One of the best design changes was in Episode 23 from Stowmarket and it was a concrete back yard and parking area that was the challenge for the designers.
The yard was stark and had no features except for a shed and with a thick concrete base, planting in the ground was going to be difficult
The Rich brothers won this design challenge and added a decked seating area with planters and trellis separators to the rectangular yard.
Apart from the camouflage painted shed which was supposed to disguise it the garden, I really loved this design as it was a massive transformation and also one of the most surprising outcomes.
What makes these early series work better is that with just the 2 designers who are the complete opposite when it comes to design styles there is more of an obvious difference between traditional and modern.
Cutting edge design versus traditional is difficult with the varying design needs of the home owners and sometimes it is obvious which style suits them better before they even present their designs.
Whether you love or loathe the finished garden the best part is always the reveal and seeing if the homeowner manages to hide the fact they really hate the concrete tablecloth!
