Monty Don is back for the first programme of Gardeners' World for the 2024 growing season starting on Friday 15 March 2024 and repeated on BBC2 over the weekend and on the BBC iplayer.
Gardeners' world first started in 1968 with Monty technically being the 7th and 9th presenter of the series.
Monty originally was the presenter from 2003 - 2008 before becoming the most recent presenter in 2011!
Gardeners' World 2024 will run for 32 Episodes.
Monty as usual will be in his garden at Longmeadow with Ned and Patti and there has been no news over the Winter months of a possible replacement for the wonderful Nellie who sadly passed away in October 2023 but he has said in the press he may wait a couple of years.
Not all the dogs have featured on the programme.
We can expect the usual visits to other gardens by the other Gardening Presenters as well as updates from their own gardens and allotments which feature on the programme.
Viewers videos will also make a return, which can cover just the very basics of gardening, to a look round some inspiring gardens and this is the LINK for anyone wanting to submit a video.
With Monty already filming his new series of 5 Episodes visiting British Gardens we may have plenty of Guest Presenters from Adam Frost and Ash the Cat as well as others like the very popular Frances Tophill (should I mention Rua her dog?).
With the Gardeners' World Winter Specials 2023/2024 and the most recent programme Gardeners' World Compilations 2024 it feels like the last couple of years that Gardeners' World has hardly had a break from being on.
The trouble with a lot of this repeated content, it making Gardens' World seem very stale and same old, for example in Episode 2 of this new series, out comes the Dahlia Tubers again, which is great if you grow them, but predictable if you are not.
Saying that a lot of viewers love the trusty format of Gardeners' World and love the familiar faces and advice of what is going on in the garden each week, but is it doing enough to encourage a new generation of gardeners, who are more likely to get inspiration off of Social media, than the TV.
At 68 years old Monty has said publicly he may consider retiring in next couple of years and would like a female replacement.
Lets wait and see what this new series brings us for the growing season ahead! Leets hope it's a good one!
