Mark Lane was born in 1969 in Hertfordshire but he was brought up in Hove near Brighton.
His grandparents had a large garden and he used to help them in the vegetable patch.
Mark was interested in nature, plants, art and wildlife growing up surrounded by the countryside and the sea.
Mark graduated with a BA Hons in Art History from University College, London.
He became a Publishing Director at for the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Managing Editor for the leading international Arts publisher Thames & Hudson.
At the age of 30 Mark was diagnosed with Spina Bifida although this is a condition he was born with. He also has Myalgic Encephalopathy more commonly known as ME or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Mark has undergone surgery on his spine, the second time following a car crash he is now a full-time wheelchair user.
He studied Garden Design through an open learning course.
Mark Lane is described as UK first Wheelchair Garden Designer and BBC Gardening Presenter.
He makes regular appearances on Gardeners' World both as a expert gardener but also giving advice on accessible Gardening for all.
Mark is also a regular face on the QVC Channel.
Mark also regularly presents for the RHS Garden Shows for the BBC and appears on several Radio Programmes.
Mark is a prolific writer for a number of Magazines and papers.
He is an Ambassador, Patron and Trustee for several Charities promoting a positive image for Disabilities and Mental Health.
Mark is a talented photographer and fills his Social Media with his stunning photos.

In January 2021 Mark Lane along with artist Sharon Walters created the first of ITV idents.
Every month a new interpretation of the ITV logo is created as a collaboration between 2 different worlds.
Mark lives in Canterbury, Kent with his partner Jasen Cavalli, who is a Computer Programmer. Their garden The Orchard is open under The National Garden Scheme.
